First off, I hate 8AM classes. I had a presentation in mine this morning, thus making it entirely impossible to skip.

Having said that, there was a meteor shower last night. See a recent post for information on my nerdy interest in space. I got a Facebook invitation to this “event,” and decided that I was watching it, definitely. So I began to research, and to my chagrin discovered that the peak time was 3:00 in the morning. Not good. My bedtime is about 1 or 2, so 3AM with an 8AM class looks like it was setting me up for failure. Not so! I made it to class with 5  minutes to spare this morning.

As far as the actual meteor shower, it was the Leonid meteors, and they were a little scarce. I saw a couple really cool ones though, and it was definitely worth it. Some of my friends and I woke up around 2:45 and went over to the football practice field (big empty field without bright lights, good for looking at the sky) pulled out some hot chocolate, and just enjoyed everything. It was a lot of fun, and although I’m stumbling around today, getting up in the middle of the night to see meteors is worth it to me!Meteor_Shower
