At The Car Wash

So, today is my fourth day of washing cars. I am still on Spring Break so that makes it easier to fit in washing these cars. But, since I am “working” this week has been more Spring and less Break. I have had a good week though. Tiring, but good. I have made over $70 washing cars which is great except for it will go straight to the gas tank. I am playing frisbee golf tomorrow which will be great considering it is supposed to be 70 degrees outside. There is one downside to my washing all these cars and being so busy. My car is still dirty. Hopefully it will get a bath either tomorrow or Sunday, because it sure does need it. When I was washing my cousin’s car, his son tried to help. So instead of him helping with the car I was getting paid for I told him he could “wash” my car. And he did with the loofa I have. Of course now my car looks even worse with black smudges everywhere and water streaks. Oh well, the price you have to pay to make the little ones happy (even if they aren’t your little ones). The weekend is almost here and that means Spring Break is pretty much over. I am ready to go back to school, but I would rather not HAVE school. Is that possible? Just let me go back without classes. I will wash you car if you do! I have experience washing cars just because of this week. I feel like I have been At The Car Wash all week! Have a good weekend in the sun everyone!

Breaking Out The Spring

It is now Spring Break for Gardner-Webb students. I have been on Spring Break since class ended on Friday and man has it been enjoyable. Now, I do still have the rest of the week to enjoy and boy am I glad. Today I got to visit with 2 high school friends. We went to Chili’s in Hickory and ate lunch. Then I came home and washed Dad’s car. Man it feels great to be able to wash a car. I think God is actually Breaking out the Spring for my Spring Break. I’m going to wash 3 more cars come tomorrow and make some cash. Hopefully it will be 70 degrees on saturday like they say, because me and some friends are going to play frisbee golf. What a great game, and because of the weather I haven’t got to play in forever. A funny story: When I went to buy a frisbee golf frisbee for my girlfriend so we could play this coming saturday, I couldn’t find them. They weren’t where I saw them last time so I asked a store worker who was standing at the front. He said, “well all our golf supplies are over that way, so you should find it there.” I did say the word golf, but I also said the word “frisbee” twice, even still he pointed me to the golf clubs. I’m sorry, but I think a sporting goods store worker should know where/what frisbee golf frisbees are. Nonetheless I found them. So I will let yall know how the frisbee golfin’ goes. So during my great spring break, I hope God is still Breaking Out The Spring.

Woot! Spring Break!

So as a Gardner-Webb student may I just say that I get a week for spring break. Oh yeah, and I get a whole 3 days for Easter. Great thing is… the breaks are just a week apart. Man! School is starting to be like a light switch- off, on, off, on- but no complaints! There is one bad thing. Nobody is going to be off during my spring break except for GWU students. No biggy. We have a youth lock-in at my home church tonight which will be a pretty great start to the big Break. I also got paid today what I like to call, a miracle, because now I will have money to actually enjoy my spring break with! So I hope yall are enjoying either your schooling or your break but either way, enjoy it! I think I will sleep 12 hours a day, wash some cars, and get a hair-cut. Sounds like a relaxing break to me. It sure is better than going to class and doing homework. Now don’t get me wrong I love classes here, but I also love a break every now and then. So I am off to load up my car! Woot! Spring Break!

Here Comes The Sun, doo da doo doo

Yesterday was such an amazing day. The sun was out, the temperature was up, and everyone was on the Quad. So many people were just hanging out and having a good time Monday and Yesterday because it was so nice outside. People were playing volleyball, football, and some were even skateboarding. How could you not have been outside on such a great day! I don’t know where you are from but I hope you had weather that was just as nice. It’s a little windy today, and will probably rain soon, but the temperature is still in the 60s. So, no complaints. But something about a nice day just makes me want to lay down and take a nap. Or just be lazy. It was nice and I hope after the rain comes, the weather will be just as nice again. Don’t get me wrong, I like the snow (just once or twice a year) but we have had way to much around here and it is about time to see the sun! As you can see from the pictures it was a great day to just hang out with friends on the Quad. That’s what Gardner-Webb students look forward to: Nice weather to hang out with friends, outside, without a jacket (and hopefully shorts). So hopefully sometime soon I will be singing “Here Come The Sun, doo da doo doo” again!

Study, Study, Study. Work, Work, Work.

You know the saying: “So much to do. So little time.” Well that is my problem today. But the good thing is, I’m not alone. I have a paper due at midnight tonight and so does my neighbor in Mauney. I also have a paper due in 45 minutes. So far I have 0 pages 0 sentences done. A big goose egg. Not good. Not good at all. I have tried so hard to buckle down to do these papers but it just isn’t happening. Maybe it is because I waited until the last minute. Note to self (and everyone reading this): Do your homework right when it is assigned, don’t wait until the hour before. Ok now that is said… It is FRIDAY! I am so glad Friday came today. It would be sad if it didn’t, you know if it was only Thursday. I think TGIF is a little overrated so how about SAGIF- Sure Am Glad It’s Friday! So here’s wishing everyone good study habits (unlike mine) and a great Friday/Weekend. Anyone seeing “Alice In Wonderland”? I am. So have a good one and Study, Study, Study. Work, Work, Work.

Dorm-It!

So, it’s about that time. The time for students here at Gardner-Webb to sign up for a dorm room. Next Thursday is the first day for sign-ups. That day is only for people that want to keep their same room. And actually I do. I don’t know what it is, but I like the way my room is set-up. The closet is behind the door which is just the way it should be, I mean you can’t put furniture behind the door so why not put a closet there? Plus I’m used to this room so a change might just be a shock to my system. Their is bad news though. My roommate has a friend most likely coming here that he want/needs (whatever) to room with. The reason this is bad news is because I need a roommate to sign-up for a room. So at this moment I’m not going to get my same room unless I can conjure up a roommate (no I’m not Wicka or anything of the sort). I have a friend here that I grew-up with but he is not sure what his current roommate was planning to do so at this moment I am just hoping and praying to keep my room. Oh isn’t this just one of the thrills about college? I suppose so. I do love college but stress and headaches sure come with the package, as does lack of sleep. I guess God will open the way for me if that is His will. But I do wish I could find a roommate (someone I COULD live with). Dorm-It this is stressful!

A College Student’s Worst Nightmare?

So I’ve got 2 stories. These stories are both true, random, and irrelevant to anything but college life. As you know, unless you live in an apartment at college you have to live in a dorm and most likely room with someone. Well sometimes it works out great between the 2 roomies but sometimes it doesn’t. It’s basically just a game of luck. After walking down to the lobby of my dorm a couple nights in a row, I have noticed that someone is camping out on the couch. I don’t just mean staying down there to watch TV; I mean someone is sleeping on the couch instead of in their room. Apparently someone is not getting along with their roommate. Now, on a different note, a college student has to learn to do his/her own laundry. Here at Gardner-Webb laundry is free, so no quarters and no excuses for not doing your laundry here. Actually there is one rare excuse. That excuse is, “somebody stole my laundry detergent”. No Joke. This seriously happened to me. I mean how desperate do you have to steal Laundry Detergent. Just cough up $5 and go to Ingles. So yes, I have an excuse for my mom to wash my clothes. I mean I could ask my roommate or someone else in the dorms for some, but I will just have Mom wash them. :) There’s nothing wrong with that right? So is this A College Student’s Worst Nightmare? I think not, but having to sleep in the lobby just might be!

How About That Weekend?

So talk about a drastic change in weather. Here at GWU and at home (only 1 hour and 30 minutes difference) it had been so cold. Last week and the weeks before that were just freezing and nasty. One night last week we decided to play soccer. We played at 10:30 and that was a bad idea. My knuckles we frozen! I couldn’t even open or close my hands at normal speed. There was only one solution to stay warm. Yell and scream at the players on the field. Okay maybe that was more of panicking. So anyways, big mistake. Then this past weekend the temperature rose like 30 degrees. It was so nice outside. I’m talking shorts and flip-flops weather. Even sunday night was nice. Now on Monday the temperature dropped a tad, but stayed warm on Tuesday too (yesterday). So yesterday we played soccer at 9:00 pm. The weather was such a change from when we played the other night. I couldn’t believe how nice it was and on top of that, they were calling for snow for today. It was absolutely unbelievable. But, the good thing is it didn’t snow. Of course it is freezing again here in Boiling Springs, NC. So my advice to the upcoming freshmen: Don’t pray for snow when you come to GWU and bring plenty of warm clothes with you. Oh yeah, and don’t play soccer in 25 degree weather. Maybe I should heed my own warning. Okay maybe not! Soccer anyone?

Cold Bike Riding

Now that I finally got a work study job I decided to bring my bike to school. For work study I have to go a long ways to the building that the job is in. The building is all the way at the tennis courts so there is a go0d reason for me to ride my bike, even if it is cold. And boy was it cold these past couple days. This morning, Wednesday, I woke up to work at 8 am and the seat of my bike was frozen. The handle bars had frost on them as well. And of course, I still rode my bike. I mean, I have class right after work so walking takes too long. Not only is it cold, my legs hurt too from riding my bike so much. I guess I should have ridden more when I was back home, now I am reaping the consequences. At first I didn’t think I was supposed to have my bike here. Not because of the rules (we can have bikes), but because of the fact that I left my bike lock at home. I had just bought it and somehow it ended up at home anyway. But finally I found one at the hardware store here in Boiling Springs. I highly recommend religion and communication majors to bring bikes to GWU because you will have tons of classes that are far away from your dorm like I do. So bring your bike but hope it’s not Cold Bike Riding weather.

Only At GWU

As a college student, sometimes you just get tired of eating in the cafeteria and prefer to make your own food. Well, my room mate decided to make himself a PB and J last night. It hilarious because he tried to play Rockband while eating it. Strumming a guitar and eating and sandwich is not the best idea, but man was it interesting. Now, I have eaten food while playing video games before, but never have I tried to eat something like a sandwich while playing a guitar. As you can see from the picture it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world. So when you come to college, I recommend you not eat while play video games. But I do recommend having your own stash of food, like sandwich stuff, cereal, chips, Mountain Dew. Okay well I added that last one because that is what I always have and I do recommend having the Dew at college as well. Don’t get me wrong, the Caf. and Kennel food is great, but after eating burgers and pizza 3 meals in a row, you kind of want something new. Actually, I have eaten cereal for lunch and dinner because of having pizza too much, but sometimes they have Stir Fry and Buffalo Chicken Wraps which are still good. So if you come to Gardner-Webb, you will love the caf food, but have a little snack in you dorm for later. PB & J with Rockband- Only At GWU!
