Packing for Home!

Next week is SPRING BREAK!
Well..a lot of people are going to the beach but I’m going home. I’m really excited just to relax at home for a whole week and do absolutely nothing. Well i might work a bit but I’m really excited to see my family for a week straight, I just got to get through this week. Tomorrow is Friday and I have the last possible class. On Fridays the last class is from 1-2 and of course, i have a Friday class at 1 so I cant leave until 2.

Also tomorrow is the housing sign up day for switching dorm rooms. This whole week has been housing sign ups. Signing up for the apartments, the same dorm room and a different dorm room. Me and two of my friends are looking to get a 3 person room in HAPY, so I’m going early to wait in line and get the room we wont. I don’t really know how much competition there is for a 3 person room but we really want one. We’ve already picked out some stuff to decorate and decided who’s bringing what. I love to decorate when I get back from summer. It’s what I look forward to over the summer-getting back and moving into my new room and decorating it :)

Spring is here…finally!!

This week has been the warmest week and I’m loving every minute of it! People are already out on the quad playing Frisbee, laying out in the hammocks and doing their homework. It’s a great thing when you come out of your dorm and see tons of people hanging out in the Quad. When you see tons of people playing outside, that’s when you know its getting warm out :)

Weather..make up your mind!

This week has been crazy as far as weather goes. Monday: cold. Tuesday: snow in the morning, freezing the rest of the day. Wednesday: Sunny and a little windy. Thursday: Sunny and warm. It’s just typical NC weather. Snowing one day, the next its sunny.

Everyone was so excited when it started snowing Tuesday because we thought we might get out of classes on Wednesday if it kept up…but it stopped & we had class. This was like our 5th snow this year! I think it’s been one of the coldest winters here and definitely one of the snowiest :)

Bachelor DRAMA!

Well this past Monday night was the season finale of The Bachelor! Just like every week, a bunch of H.A.P.Y. girls watched it in the lobby and we were all upset when jake picked VIENNA!? what? Tenley is the sweet girl that America loved, but he picked Vienna.

Anyway…this past friday night, i went home to see my friend who just became a Mary Kay consultant and she was having her first party on Saturday. We were driving back to her house friday night when we went over lake norman and I saw the prettiest sunset over the lake. So i thought I would share this beautiful display of God’s creation with you :)

Intramural Bball!

We are well into intramural basketball season, so i thought i would give you an update. Our co-ed team is kind of sad, we haven’t won a single game. We’ve come close and we always try our best but the other teams are just better! (We have heart though and a great spirit) Anyway our guys team is 2-2 now. They won there second game last night. They were down 14 points in the third quarter and came back and beat em! This is a photo of them playing. Most of our games are in Bost gym, which is like the practice gym where you can go and shoot around whenever. Our real basketball teams play in the LYCC.

This week=5 papers due!

Yep. Three papers due on Tuesday, and two more papers due on Wednesday. I got most of my papers done this weekend, so i’m not completely stressed right now. I actually had an Old Testament paper due today, which i forgot about but thankfully today in class he announced that he moved it back to Tuesday (tomorrow). Then I have a Health paper and a British Literature paper due tomorrow as well. Then on Wednesday I have a Nutrition paper and a paper for my Intro to Health and Wellness class due.

Now don’t think that every week is like this in college, because its definitely not. Most weeks are not this bad. Some weeks are a breeze, but its weeks like these that remind me, I’m a college student now and have to buckle down and get my work done. But being busy helps me to manage everything and take control of my time.

Boiling springs..where?

I get that a lot when I tell people that GWU is in boiling springs. There like “oh where is that?”. Even though it’s not a big town, I think it’s a great location. Were only 15 minutes away from Shelby and about 20 minutes from Gaffney, SC (where the Outlet mall is located!!)  And Charlotte is about 45 minutes to an hour away, so everything is pretty close. Here in boiling springs, we have like three fast food restaurants and two sit down restaurants that you can see from campus, so it’s definitely not a small country town. A lot of people other than students live here.  The college does make up most of the town, but boiling springs is a great place for GWU :)

It snows on the weekend…

My sister sledding down the hill.

Lake Norman in the snow!

..but it cant snow sunday night? If it had snowed this past sunday night, we might still be out of school, but of course, it snowed friday night and was melted by sunday afternoon, but i love snow no matter when it comes! But I went home this weekend and went sledding with my family and played in the snow all weekend! It started snowing friday night, and my sister, my mom and I had planned to go see the movie, Valentines Day, so we didnt let the snow stop us. Of course we went like 15 mph the whole way because it just had started snowing and was coming down hard.

When we came out after the movie, it was still snowing but the roads were much more clear so it didn’t take as long to get back home. Saturday we went sledding and it was so much fun..heres some pictures from our adventures!

Class? Not today!

looks like a mac huh?Every Tuesday and Thursday I have a British Literature Class, and it happens to be my only class on thursdays, but this week my teacher is relaxing in Costa Rica, so we get a break as well! I dont have any classes today (thursday). We did have a paper due today, but I’ve already got that turned in, so now the rest of the day i get to relax.

Last night while I was working on my paper, I thought it’d be cool to set up my computer like a Mac. I have a pink Dell which i love, but i also really like the layout of the Mac :) So here is the finished project.

Can you reserve the lobby?

YEP! Each dorm has a lobby area for everyone to hang out, watch tv, play games etc. And every Monday night the Bachelor comes on from 8-10, and a bunch of girls watch it in the Hapy lobby. So yesterday my RA Lindsay reserved the lobby from 8-10 just so we could watch the Bachelor. Signs were up all over the lobby saying it was reserved for monday night.

Its a great time to get together with a bunch of girls and make commentary on the show and laugh together at all the ridiculous drama haha! I can really say that I love mondays now :)
