So…an interesting fact about Gardner-Webb is that there is an airport just a few minutes down the road in Shelby! It’s the Cleveland County Regional Airport. Now, it’s not like you can fly in and out of this airport from California or anything; you’re going to have to go to Greenville, SC or Charlotte, NC for that. However, little planes do fly in and out quite a bit. I get super excited when we’re driving to and from Shelby and the runways are lit up in all kinds of colors! It’s beautiful–I promise. Anyway, my boyfriend and I were coming back from Shelby on Saturday and there were a bunch of signs at the airport saying that there was an open house! We couldn’t stop because we had to get back for the GWU football game, but my suitemate and her boyfriend went earlier that day and got to go for a ride in a helicopter! Now I don’t want to give you the false impression that it was free, but I thought it was so cool that an opportunity like that was just down the road! They were able to wear the headsets and everything!!
